Focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, especially the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic care is used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches,
When subluxations occur, chiropractors use specific techniques to return the vertebrae into their proper positions or mobilize them so they can move freely. These techniques are called spinal manipulations or adjustments. During an adjustment, the vertebra is freed from the misaligned position and returned to the proper position in the spinal column. Once performed, the adjustment allows the body to heal and maintain homeostasi.
Subluxations occur mainly in the spine, which you can feel – in severe cases- as a pinched nerve. Sometimes you may not feel anything, but still a slight subluxation may exist. By having a professional chiropractor use this technique, the subluxations can be released. Only then, can the automatic onward transfer of information flow freely from an organ to your brain. On the one hand, the gentle touch of the chiropractor releases tension in your back, on the other hand, the neural maintenance of your organs and whole body are optimized.
How can subluxations occur?
The main causes are abuse of your body and your posture (incorrect positioning of the body), accidents, physical and psychological stress. If a nerve was disturbed in processing its stimulus, the whole body is affected: incorrect „messages „are sent to an organ which disturb it`s function and which later may cause it to become sick.
How do I know if I`ve got a pinched nerve or not?
Most of us do not necessarily feel a subluxation in the spine as being painful as you would normally expect. Pain is one of several symptoms; others are higher tension in the skin, a different sense of local temperature, a tingling sensation, fatigue, a lower tolerance against stress and many more.
Chiropractic is not part of the German conventional medicine; it belongs to the alternative medicine branch. In Germany, you need to be a physician or a “heilpraktiker” to perform this therapy.
